The Explorer Learning Series is designed for the curious.
A place of learning, sharing, and community, ELS offers an assortment of general-interest discussions on topics relating to history and Early Music from cultures around the world.
So much information about music from the Middle Ages to early Baroque has been lost over time. When The Toronto Consort’s Artistic Associates curate a season, they often begin with an intense curiosity. They dive into volumes of known historical publications, anthologies of poetry, and literature. They examine sources found by colleagues, academics, and scholars. They dig up manuscripts, musical parts, and texts. Then, finally, they assemble their knowledge, interpret, transcribe, arrange, and rehearse.
This series is a window into the topics and sources that feed that process.
Approachable, easy-to-digest content is front and centre in this casual online series, so whether you know a little or a lot about the subject, you’re guaranteed to enjoy your time with us! Sessions are held live online so anyone can attend (from anywhere!) and then made available free online via Early Music TV.
